After the 1949 tornado which devastated Warren, the city of Borculo in the Netherlands learned of the destruction.  Borculo understood the pain of the people of Warren since they were the only city in all of the Netherlands to ever be hit by a tornado.  It, too, suffered devastation in 1925. They also remembered the kindness of the United States, its soldiers, and its people that was shown to their nation during World War II.  In and effort to show their concern, Borculo's citizens crafted beautiful furniture and sent chairs, tables, a chandelier, and more as a gift to the City of Warren.

Recently an effort has been launched, facilitated by the students of SEACBEC's EASTlab and the Chamber of Commerce, to find all of the original pieces of this gift.  That search has now reconnected our city to the City of Borculo.  People in the Dutch town are scouring newspapers and talking to people involved in the project to discover as much as they can about this tribute.

The information gathered from Borculo will be used in the production of a documentary about this gift.
